A House Marked by His Presence

There was something about the story of Obed Edom that settled deep in my spirit.
After Uzzah reached out and touched the Ark, fear filled the moment. David was afraid to bring the Ark into the City of David, so it was taken to the house of Obed Edom. For three months, the presence of God rested there.
Scripture simply says the Lord blessed Obed Edom, his household, and everything he had because of the Ark of God.
When I kept reading, I noticed something else.
Years later, his family was still serving around the presence of God.
That made me stop.
It wasn’t just three blessed months.
It became a legacy.
As I prayed through that story, I found myself saying, “Lord, that’s what I want.”
I know I can’t protect my family from every hardship or every trial.
But I do want to leave them a life that has been marked by the presence of God.
I want my children and my grandchildren to know what it feels like to grow up in a home where Jesus is honored.
I want them to see peace when life doesn’t make sense.
Joy that remains in suffering.
Faith that keeps believing.
Love that forgives.
Wisdom that comes from fearing the Lord.
Those are the blessings money cannot buy.
The older I get, the less I care about what I leave in someone’s hands.
I care about what I leave in their hearts.
One day my grandchildren, and maybe even generations I will never meet, may read these words.
I hope they don’t walk away impressed with their grandma.
I hope they walk away convinced that God is faithful.
I hope they see that He went before me.
That He fought battles I could not fight.
That He corrected me when I wandered.
That He healed me when I was broken.
That He carried me when I had no strength left.
That every stone I have placed points back to Him.
This website has quietly become one of those stones.
A place where I can remember.
A place where my family can remember.
A place where future generations can see that the Lord has been faithful every step of the way.
If they remember anything about me, I hope they remember this.
Grandma loved Jesus.
Grandma trusted Him.
Grandma welcomed His presence.
And she desired that His presence would become the greatest inheritance her family would ever receive.
What if the greatest inheritance we leave our family is not what we accumulated, but the presence we cultivated?
Because long after we’re gone, they may not remember everything we said or everything we gave them.
But they can still come to know the God their grandma loved ❤️
