Let’s Party!

As a teenager, one of my favorite says was:
“I’m here for the party!”
I thought I knew what that meant.
Then, years later, I was reading a book when two simple words stopped me in my tracks.
Celebration matters.
I stopped reading and started thinking.
When did I stop celebrating?
Not birthdays.
Not holidays.
Life.
So I looked up the word celebrate. Then I started looking through the Bible.
God didn’t just command His people to worship.
He told them to celebrate.
He established feasts and celebrations.
He told them to stop.
To remember.
To rejoice.
To celebrate His faithfulness.
Why?
Because celebration remembers what God has done.
It gives Him glory.
It builds our faith.
Gratitude and celebration are closely connected, but they’re not the same.
Gratitude notices the gift.
Celebration responds to the gift.
Gratitude says, “Thank You, Lord.”
Celebration says, “Look what God has done!”
That made me realize something.
I don’t think I celebrate enough.
I tend to notice my losses more than my victories.
But if I can learn to notice what’s wrong, I can also learn to notice what’s right.
I can learn to look for God’s goodness.
His faithfulness.
His fingerprints throughout my day.
Maybe celebration isn’t just for special occasions.
Maybe it’s meant to become part of everyday life.
Celebrate God’s faithfulness.
Celebrate answered prayer.
Celebrate the step of growth.
Celebrate the small victories that are so easy to overlook.
Celebrate the ordinary moments that remind us God is with us.
At the end of the day, maybe we should ask ourselves:
-Where did I see God today?
-What did I do well today?
-What prayer was answered?
-What victory happened today?
-What good thing almost went unnoticed?
Did I quit or did I keep going?
Did I apologize?
Did I show kindness?
Life gives us plenty of opportunities to notice what’s wrong.
Let’s become people who notice what God is doing.
Don’t miss it.
Celebrate it.
