Up From The Graveyard

The parable of the talents has been stirring in me.

James tells us that faith without works is dead.

I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to pray like everything depends on God, yet forget that He also tells us He will bless the work of our hands.

Our hands have to find something to do.

For years, God has been building character in me.

Faithfulness.

Self-control.

Wisdom.

Understanding.

Discernment.

Those years weren’t wasted. They were preparation.

But eventually preparation has to become participation.

I’ve often heard it said that some of the greatest treasure on earth is buried in cemeteries.

Not treasure made of gold.

Treasure made of God-given gifts that were never used.

Books never written.

Dreams never pursued.

Businesses never started.

Ministries never launched.

Songs never sung.

Callings buried beneath fear, disappointment, excuses, or simply waiting for “someday.”

Jesus’ parable makes me stop and ask a different question.

What has God placed in my hands?

And am I faithfully investing it?

That is a question worth asking Him today.

Have I buried anything You entrusted to me?

Is there a dream You’ve asked me to steward?

A gift You’ve asked me to develop?

A step of obedience I’ve been postponing?

I have a heart for revival.

A heart to see dead things come alive.

Maybe revival doesn’t always begin in a church service.

Maybe sometimes it begins when God calls buried dreams, forgotten gifts, and neglected callings up from the graveyard.

Lord, if there’s anything You’ve placed inside of me that’s been buried by fear, delay, or comfort…

Call it forth.

Help me be faithful with what You’ve entrusted to my hands.

Up from the graveyard…

Let dead things come alive.
