Sometimes the Right Decision Still Hurts

There is a strange grief that comes with doing the right thing.

You know where God is leading.

You know the decision is right.

You know it is time.

And yet, you sit in your car and cry.

Not because you are confused.

Not because you made a mistake.

Not because you want to go back.

But because endings are still endings.

One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned is that obedience and grief can exist in the same moment.

The fact that something hurts does not automatically mean it is wrong.

And the fact that something is right does not automatically mean it won’t hurt.

Sometimes we grieve because something was painful.

Sometimes we grieve because something mattered.

Sometimes we grieve because a season blessed us, taught us, stretched us, and became part of our story.

Not every ending needs a villain.

Not every departure requires betrayal.

Sometimes a season simply comes to an end.

And sometimes you’re sitting in your car crying because you’re doing the right thing and it still hurts.

That kind of grief isn’t weakness.

It’s honesty.
